Tata Nano likely to go into Taiwanese market very soon


TECO Electric and Machinery Co, a Taiwanese firm is mulling to bring in the world’s cheapest car – Tata Nano – from India. According to a report given by the company on Monday, it is aiming the millions of motorcyclists of Taiwan as potential buyers of this small car. TECO is a Taipei-based firm that deals in a series of businesses in the country as well as home appliances, telecommunications equipments, IT systems, commercial electronics, etc.

In view of the island’s population of 23 million and the number of scooters and motorcycles of about 14.6 million, the Taiwanese market could propose a huge number of ready buyers to a small car similar to Tata Nano.

As per the reports published in the local media, the future upgraded version of Tata Nano in the country will be carrying a range of innovative features similar to air conditioners, power steering, and even airbags. The car is estimated to be commenced in the country with a price tag of around 270,000 Taiwan dollars ($8,940 US).

The company had just imported two Tata Nano models from India, in order to do research and study on the car’s compatibility in the Taiwanese market. Though, the company is yet to build any official statement concerning the time line of launch and pricing information of the car in the Taiwanese market.
