Proton Holdings Bhd has selected to name its newest car model, "PREVE", to clutch the attention of both the limited and global markets.
Previously codenamed P3-21A, Group Managing Director, Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the new name means evidence, or had established to the world that Proton can make cars which met every severe global requirement.
We want to be a global auto maker with a universal exterior, universal thinking and clearly require a name that signifies where the company is today and where we want to go internationally.
The media were given a chance to test-drive the new car over 156 kilometers.
Syed Zainal Abidin said the PREVE can gather a higher income margin for the business with its cost range of RM62, 000-RM75, 000 depending on the version.
He said the PREVE is planned to be formally launched this month by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Syed Zainal is also optimistic of monthly sales of 4,000-4,500 units for the new universal car.
Proton has salaried much concentration to security features, including body strength development, speed and fuel utilization, accessories as well as management system in creating the universal car.
